Protecting Wildlife
The Swan Valley has some of the most significant communities of flora and fauna in the metropolitan area. The area is home to native animals such as the bandicoot, numbat and chuditch and several ground-nesting birds and reptiles, along with 12 species of declared rare flora. Approval was obtained from the Swan River Trust to build the new bridge over the Swan River, subject to a number of conditions, to ensure the impact of construction has a minimal impact on the river environment. Native fauna will be looked after with a commitment to improving the quality of the local vegetation, as part of landscaping works.
