The temporary roundabout will allow traffic to continue flowing while the intersection is re-constructed with wider lanes and
new traffic signals.
Motorists can expect intermittent single lane closures, from early to mid-October, while the temporary roundabout is being built. Closures will be limited to off-peak times from 7pm to 6am.
Community Relations Manager Craig Howarth, from Macmahon, warned there were likely to be some delays but the roundabout should significantly improve the flow of traffic through the area.
“This is a very busy location, so a roundabout offers the best solution to help minimise traffic delays while the team works on permanently upgrading the intersection,” he said.
The temporary roundabout will be laid with asphalt to provide a smooth and safe driving surface for commuters. It is expected to be complete towards the end of October and will be in service until mid-December when the upgraded intersection and traffic lights will be operational.
