Artwork inspired by local communities will adorn the noise reduction walls and bridge abutments of the newly-extended Reid Highway.

Artist Anne Neil has worked closely with project landscaper David Wheeler to create an abstract composition of tree trunks and limbs, reflecting the largely rural landscape of Caversham.

Designed for viewing at speed, the concrete panels are about 150 millimetres thick and the walls will be installed some 660 metres from West Swan Road, along the north side of the highway extension.

The designs are with Main Roads WA for final community consultation and approval.
